ART & ABOUT FESTIVAL 2015, Sydney

'DEAR COUNCIL' BY FRAZER MACDONALD

Proudly fronting the exhibition as the 'hero shot', on exhibition marketing material and the City of Sydney website.

This series of images captures an exchange between the Council and a young resident after the graffiti in the Newtown-Stanmore tunnel was painted over. Her graffiti message reads:

"Dear Council

Stop painting over our wall, it's stupid and pointless. It looked nice before and was part of Newtown, why keep ruining cool art?

Whoever paints over this: you are a dick and nobody likes you.

- Newtown resident"

EXCHANGE BY URBAN COLLECTIVE

Most moments go unnoticed but we do it everyday. When we love, when we hate. When we are on autopilot, or when we feel most alive.

Exchange is an exhibition capturing public life and the people we see everyday yet don’t ‘really see’. Some photographs will be in complete obviousness, an everyday moment rendered beautiful. Others will stretch your imagination, something you may never have expected, and some will challenge you for understanding.

Brought to you by Urban Collective, a Sydney community of exhibiting photographers from all walks of life who have a passion for street photography and street portraiture. Curated by Sandra Kozleuchar.
